AI Disclosure Policy
Version 1. Effective 2026-01-01. This is the current version.
# AI Disclosure Policy
*Draft for attorney review. Effective \[Effective Date\]. Version 1. Part of the Terms of Service.*
This policy explains how Impact Story uses AI, what we label, and what organizations must do when they share stories.
## What AI does
- Transcribes the storyteller's recording.
- Selects and orders passages of their own words to fit 30–60 seconds, and removes filler words and long pauses.
- Coaches the storyteller while they record, with at most one optional follow-up question per prompt.
- Describes photos, finds where faces are for cropping, and places photos at matching moments.
- Suggests a title, a short hook, a pull quote, captions, categories and social post text.
- Cleans up audio: reduces background noise and evens out volume.
- Repairs old or low-resolution photos without changing faces or adding anything.
- Reads the storyteller's words in a stock AI voice, only if they choose it.
## What AI never does
- Rewrite, paraphrase or add words to what a storyteller said or wrote. Captions are their exact words.
- Create a copy of anyone's voice. Voice cloning isn't offered.
- Generate video, animate photos with invented motion, or create images of people.
- Identify who is in a photo.
- Generate music. All music is licensed from human-made catalogs.
## Labels we apply
| Situation | Label | Where |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A story is read by the stock AI voice | "Narrated by AI" | Burned into the video in every format and export, including ad cuts |
| AI suggestions in the portal (titles, hooks, categories) | "Suggested" | Next to the suggestion until a person accepts or edits it |
| Videos told in the storyteller's own voice | No AI label needed | The words and voice are theirs; editing for length is noted on the story page |
## What organizations must do
- **Review before approving.** A person on your team reviews every story before approval, including the transcript comparison the portal shows. Approval is blocked if captions don't match what the storyteller said.
- **Keep our labels.** Don't crop, cover or remove the "Narrated by AI" label, and don't re-edit videos to remove it.
- **Use platform labels.** When posting an AI-narrated video on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or any platform that asks whether content uses AI or synthetic audio, say yes or turn on its AI label.
- **Don't misrepresent.** Don't describe an AI-narrated video as the storyteller speaking, or imply a story is unedited when it has been shortened.
- **No political or election ads.** Don't use AI-narrated stories in political or election advertising.
- **Follow testimonial rules.** Stories must reflect real experiences, and any material connection between the storyteller and your organization must be disclosed where the story promotes or raises money (see the Acceptable Use Policy).
